Eagle Rock

Posted on Tuesday, May 31, 2005
Yes, Eagle Rock is a real place!

Excerpt from BILLY GOAT HILL, hardcover version, page 44:  A notable landmark, Eagle Rock juts dramatically from the side of a steep hill...It is said to have been a sacred place of Indian worship. Its name derives from a curious eagle-shaped shadow that appears at midday on the western face of the rock and gradually disappears as the sun arcs overhead. Like the Indians before us, we are fascinated with Eagle Rock and hike to its top as often as we can get away with it. It is a dangerous trek, and kids have been known to take a plunge now and then. Fly like eagles they do not.
